a Morning God

daylight came a midst
a cacophony of late Spring
rain drops splatterin’ on my roof.

dusk was barely breathin’
and so were you, covered
in a quilt of chestnut hair

spilled carelessly across
the sides of your face.
i rose and stood alone

watchin’ the green grasses
buckle under the weight
of everything and You

in the distance; unexpectedly
meandered Your way to me with
bare feet glistenin’ in

a gray-veiled sunrise. Suddenly,
a Hand on my shoulder and ne’er
a word spoken, I knew

that for today,
nothing else
mattered.
