The God of War

when I notice a stranger
in the market,
driving alone in their car,
walking their dog,
taking my coffee order,

I often muse about
their life.

and I fail every time
to understand anything
about them.

if only
the Prince of Peace,
in His wisdom,
had given us the ability
to tap into the mind or heart
of the stranger and
see life through their
eyes, even if but for
a single moment; for
in seeing,
there would be
no more wars.

for those moments
would betray
our similitude.
and in those moments,
stacked a mile high,
we would know that
we are not alone.

but He chose, in His
wisdom, to not grant us
that gift which He so readily
uses, and in so doing
made us each and
everyone, completely
alone.

and at War.
