beauty: in pieces. Part Five.

chestnut and amber
flames die away in
cooling embers on this
Autumn eve. aging
willows and elms sag in
the cooling shifts of
longer shadows. when
i lie in our bed the flowers
and dark scents of
an ancient forest embalm
my heart to you – turning
restless. i reach out a
hand in the darkness to
still your disquieted dream.
searching. tracing the curve
of your back, your shoulders
your neck, until my
touch is buried in the
respite of your dark
hair. my heart is stilled
in the silken drape
flowing from your head
to your pillow in gentle
layers of perfume and
shimmering reflections
as the stars up above
nod their approval.

reading your words is like seeing a movie in my head.
