... poem ..., ... poems ..., ... poetry ...

just another hypocrite at Jesus’ table

would you rob me my ale
or my whiskey
at His table?

all the while at your own
you fill yourselves
with gluttony and gossip
and call it fellowship
and prayer meetings?

would you be more surprised
if Jesus came to your
house with a six pack
or a tuna casserole?

there are faults in men that I can scarcely bare
when gossip is cloaked in brotherly prayer
and stomachs are filled with Sunday fare
should i enjoy my amber brew
any less than gluttony and gossip enjoy you?

  1. I wish I had something different to say, but I almost always want to say wow. your poems rob me of my breath, whether they are clever or beautiful or sweet.
