... poetry ...

where sunlight never goes

i search for things just like this

in the deep crevices, under rocks, fallen trees

dug down in the damp wet places

where sunlight never goes

when my muddy fingers brush up against

a rusty old tin, i hunker down lower

and glance behind me, to make sure that

no one sees, knowing that no one is around

these are the things i know about myself

that i’m not afraid to dig into the dark, muddy earth

that i’m not convinced that i’m ever complete alone

and that there are places where sunlight never goes.
